JOURNEY
INTO SPANISH MULTIMEDIA SERIES
Available in Audio Tape, CD, and MP3 formats
The
Journey Into Spanish Audio Program contains15
hours of digitally recorded material.
This
series features the proper pronunciation of vowels and
consonants
in addition to the fourteen chapters of Journey Into
Spanish. The entire program
may be used in either language lab or
independent study settings. The Journey IntoSpanish
Laboratory Manual accompanies the audio
program
and should be used whenever listening to the
tapes. The audio program has two objectives:
1.
to improve listening comprehension, pronunciation,
and
writing skills, and
2.
to provide a review of the grammar and vocabulary
covered in the textbook.
Chapters
include thefollowing
segments:
LA
LECTURA
The
Lecturas are read twice. The first time they are
read
at a normal speaking speed; the second time
they
are read slowly so that students have time to
repeat
and concentrate on the proper pronunciation
of
each word and phrase.
EJERCICIOS
SOBRE LA LECTURA
The
true or false comprehension exercises, which
follow
the Lecturas focus on important or key information
given
in the Lecturas and assist students in developing
better
listening and writing skills.
EJERCICIOS
DE GRAMÁTICA
These
exercises are designed to aid in reviewing
grammatical
concepts and verb conjugations. Theyalso
offer students an opportunity for mastering the
pronunciation
of verbs and vocabulary covered in
the chapter.
DIÁLOGO
The
Diálogos, like the Lecturas, allow
students tohear
natural exchanges at conversational or normal
speaking
speed. Diálogos improve pronunciation, and,
like
the Lecturas, may be used for testing listening
comprehension
as well.
VOCABULARIO
This
section, which highlights both cognates and
common
idioms and phrases, assists students in the
pronunciation and memorization of
important vocabulary.
DICTADO
The
Dictado, which is a composite of the Lectura and
Diálogo(s) in the chapter, provides a review
of
the grammar and vocabulary of the chapter.
Again
the focus is on improving listening and writing
skills.
The answers to all segments may be found in
the
Teacher's Manual.

Tape
One of the series presents common English words
which
have been borrowed from Spanish. A brief review
of
the rules for stress shows the viewer how to
pronounce
cognates, i.e.,words in both Spanish and English
that are similar in spelling and meaning. After
the
cognates are presented, there are several humorous
vignettes
and self-monitoring quizzes in Spanish. Since
the vignettes and quizzes are comprised of easily
recognizable
cognates, the viewer quickly realizes that he/she
can understand much more than seemed possible.
Running Time: 1 hour 16 minutes.
Tape
Two outlines the Sentence Generator and shows
the
viewer step-by- step how to generate hundreds of
sentences
from just 39 words. The viewer learns to ask
questions,
make both positive and negative sentences, and
indicate present, future, and past actions without
having
to learn conjugations. Animations, vignettes,
and
quizzes keep the action moving and the viewer
actively
involved in learning. The final segment presents
a
series of "flash images" through which the viewer is
presented
a wide variety of greetings and common expressions.

THE
JOURNEY INTO SPANISH
SENTENCE GENERATORP.C.
CD-ROM
With
only 39 core words viewers can generate more than 1,000 practical
sentences.
The
Sentence Generatorú
is a unique interactive tool that has proven
effective
in expanding the learners' ability to quickly
control
their Spanish conversations. It provides them with
an
immediate sense of accomplishment and at the same
time
establishes a solid foundation from which they can
confidently
build their fluency in Spanish.
The
Sentence Generator
Allows
learners to express action in the present, past, and future
without having to memorize verb endings for the past and future
tenses.
The
interactive format of the
generator is especially helpful for those who have
difficulty
forming sentences. Clear step-by-step explanations
and
examples are followed by entertaining video clips and
self-monitoring
quizzes. After learners create several sentences,
a video clip appears in which those sentences are
used
in on-screen dialogues featuring people in everyday
settings.
These real life exchanges always have some memorable
or humorous quality.
